Twilight Star Arrested for DUI
On Monday, twenty-one-year-old (21) Kiowa Gordon, an actor who plays a werewolf in the hit Twilight movies, was arrested by Tempe Police on an outstanding warrant issued for failure to appear in court on a misdemeanor DUI drug charge. The warrant was issued after Mr. Gordon failed to appear in court on February 25th on a DUI charge filed against him last September. According to Mesa Police Spokesman, Sergeant Ed Wessing, on September 2nd, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Mr. Gordon was stopped after Police observed his vehicle drift into the bicycle lane at Southern Avenue and Superstition Springs Boulevard. Sergeant Wessing said “During the traffic stop, the Officer observed numerous clues of impairment and suspected Kiowa was under the influence of marijuana and was unsafe to drive a motor vehicle.”
A separate warrant was issued in Scottsdale for Mr. Gordon resulting from an arrest in January 2010. On that occasion, Mr. Gordon was a passenger in his own vehicle when it was stopped by Scottsdale Police for reckless driving. According to Police, the Officer found a bottle of the alcoholic energy drink, Four-loko, and a bud of marijuana in the vehicle. Mr. Gordon was arrested for minor in possession of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia. In February 2010, Mr. Gordon was ordered to a treatment program after pleading guilty to the drug charge. Mr. Gordon was scheduled for a court appearance on January 4th but failed to appear. According to Scottsdale Court Officials, further court action for this warrant has not yet been scheduled.
