Stay Safe and Drive Sober This Halloween

Halloween is right around the corner and while most people will be thinking of spooky costumes and haunted houses, the scariest part of the holiday may actually be the roads.  Drunk driving is one of America’s most often committed and deadliest crimes on any day of the year, but Halloween is especially scary.  In 2010, 194 people were killed in auto accidents in Arizona where one driver had a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  Roughly 41 percent of nationwide highway fatalities during Halloween (from 6:00 p.m. October 29 to 5:59 a.m. November 1) that year involved a driver with a BAC of 0.08 or higher.

Stay safe this Halloween by planning ahead before you go out.  Before you start drinking, designate a sober driver to give you and your friends a ride home.  If you can’t find a designated driver, call a taxi cab, family member, or use public transportation.  At Oracle Law Group Office, we urge all drivers to have a great Halloween while staying safe and sober.
