Rockies Pitcher Arrested for DUI
On Saturday March 3rd, Colorado Rockies Pitcher Alex White was arrested for suspicion of DUI in Scottsdale. The Rockies played the Arizona Diamondbacks in a spring training game earlier that day.
According to the report, the team was “extremely disappointed” by the arrest. They believe that White “will learn from his unfortunate decision and clearly understands the severity of the situation.” The statement from the team also said that White was taking responsibility for his behavior with his teammates and the team manager.
The report did not release White’s blood-alcohol content at the time of his arrest.
Arizona has strict DUI laws with mandatory sentences. If White is convicted of a regular DUI (blood-alcohol content less than .15) and it’s his first DUI conviction, he will face at least 1 day in jail, $1,250 in fines and fees, a suspended driver’s license, and possibly community restitution. He will also have to install an ignition interlock device on his vehicle for at least 6 months once his driving privileges are restored.
