Officers Arrest fifty-five (55) People for DUI in West Valley on Memorial Day
Thirty-eight (38) Police Officers from seven (7) Police Departments in the West Valley, Peoria, Glendale, Buckeye, Surprise, El Mirage, and Tolleson, patrolled the area around Lake Pleasant on Memorial Day in search of drunk drivers. According to Jay Davies, spokesman for the Peoria Police Department, the Officers stopped 382 vehicles between 3 p.m. and 1 a.m. Of these traffic stops, 272 resulted in citations other than DUI such as speeding or broken tail light. Officers arrested fifty-five (55) individuals for DUI with an average blood-alcohol content of 0.16 percent: more than twice the legal limit. Specifically, Officers arrested seven (7) people for aggravated DUI, eleven (11) people for extreme DUI, twenty-six (26) people for misdemeanor DUI and eight (8) people for minor consumption.
