Nikolai Khabibulin Charged for DUI
Nikolai Khabibulin Receives Jail Sentence for February DUI
Russian-born National Hockey League goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin was sentenced to 30-days in jail last Friday by a City Court Judge. The sentencing results from a DUI Arrest in February, in which the Edmonton Oiler’s goal keeper registered a .164 BAC, twice the legal limit in Arizona. Upon receiving the decision Khabibulin’s lawyers immediately appealed the decision and it is believed that through the appeals process Khabibulin will serve no more than ten (10) days in jail. Since Khabibulin is not a repeat or dangerous offender his case for a less-stringent punishment is merited, he has also enrolled himself in the NHL’s Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program.
