Mesa Man Arrested For Aggravated DUI
On Wednesday February 8th, Tanner Boyd was arrested in Mesa for aggravated DUI and marijuana charges. According to the report, the 25 year-old lost control of his Chevrolet Lumina, hit a wooden utility pole, which knocked the pole and the attached power lines into the street.
Boyd initially fled the scene, but returned when law enforcement arrived. Boyd allegedly told police that he hit the pole when he swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle. There were no skid marks on the street to support his account.
Police reported that Boyd exhibited rapid speech, body tremors, and other signs of impairment during his field sobriety test.
Boyd was arrested for DUI. He was charged with aggravated DUI because he was driving with a suspended license due to a prior DUI conviction. This is a Class 4 Felony in Arizona. Boyd was charged with marijuana charges after a search of his person revealed an envelope containing 3.4 grams of marijuana.
