Lindsay Lohan Accepts Plea Deal
Lindsay Lohan recently accepted a plea deal that included 90 days in a locked rehabilitation facility, 18 months in therapy and 30 days of community service for misdemeanor charges relating to a car accident that occurred in June 2012. Ms. Lohan pleaded no contest to providing false information to the police and misdemeanor reckless driving.
Ms. Lohan was also charged with willfully resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer, but the charge was dismissed. Ms. Lohan also admitted to violating the terms of her probation from a shoplifting case that occurred in 2011 and was sentenced to 180 days in jail. However, the jail sentence was stayed pending Ms. Lohan’s completion of the terms of the plea deal.
LA. County Superior Court Judge James Dabney said if Ms. Lohan failed to meet the terms of the agreement that probation would no longer be an option. Judge Dabney also ordered Ms. Lohan to pay restitution to the driver of the other vehicle involved in the June accident.
Prosecutors said that Ms. Lohan was also sentenced to 5 days in jail for the reckless driving charge but that this time would be served during her rehabilitation sentence. Santa Monica’s Chief Deputy City Attorney Terry White said, “I am pleased with the outcome. We got what we offered.”
According to her attorney, Mark Heller, Ms. Lohan was “extremely gratified with the end result.” Mr. Heller said, “I’m very confident that you won’t be seeing Lindsay Lohan in any criminal courts any time in the future. She has fully recognized all of the issues that have to be addressed, and I’m very confident she’ll be able to move forward in her life with dignity, pride and respect.”
