Jason Kidd Arrested for DUI
New York Knicks player Jason Kidd was arrested for drunk driving in Southampton, New York in the early hours of Sunday, July 15th. According to the report, Kidd drove his 2010 Cadillac Escalade into a telephone pole near his home in the Hamptons.
The 39 year-old basketball player was alone in the vehicle. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. Earlier that night, it appears Kidd tweeted a photo of himself with filmmaker George Lucas which suggest he was partying at SL East nightclub.
Kidd was arraigned on Sunday morning. He plead not guilty to the charge and was released on his own recognizance.
Kidd recently signed a 3-year $9.5 million dollar contract with the New York Knicks. He previously played for the Dallas Mavericks, the Phoenix Suns, and the New Jersey Nets. If Kidd was arrested and convicted of DUI in Arizona, he would face the minimum penalties.
- 10 days in jail (9 of which could be suspended)
- At least $4,000 in fines and fees
- Revoked driver’s license
- Ignition interlock device
