El Mirage Man Arrested with Blood Alcohol Level 4 Times the Legal Limit
El Mirage police say they found Justin Matthew Holze, 36, on June 24 near the U.S. 60 and Greenway Road coasting about 5 mph without his hands on the wheel and unresponsive. Officers followed him down the highway during which time they observed Holze swerving between lanes and bumping into a guard rail.
In order to stop Holze’s car an officer had to drive in front of him forcing the car to a stop. After the vehicle came to rest the officers had to pull Holze out of his car and physically carry him to the patrol car because he was unable to carry his own weight.
Officers found an empty bottle of vodka in the car. Holze was then taken to the hospital where his blood-alcohol content was 0.377 percent, police said. The legal limit in Arizona is 0.08 percent.
Officers discovered that Holze’s license was suspended for DUI offenses. Police said he had DUI convictions in 2010 and 2012. Holze has been charged with DUI, extreme DUI, aggravated DUI, driving on a suspended license, endangerment, not obeying a police officer and striking a highway fixture. He is facing two class 4 felonies. Each class 4 felony carries a 1.5 to 3-year sentence.
