DUI’s and the July 4th Holiday

Last year in Arizona a statewide task force targeting drunk drivers over the July 4th holiday led to more than 100 arrests.

The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety says 33 of the 108 arrests were for extreme DUI. That’s when a driver’s blood-alcohol level is a .15 percent or higher, or nearly double the state’s legal limit of .08 percent.

In all, almost 460 task force officers stopped nearly 4,400 drivers on July 4th. More than 1,200 of the drivers received citations for speeding or other non-DUI offenses.

Be responsible this July 4th, have a designated driver, take a cab, have someone sober pick you up, but never drink and drive.
