Cinco De Mayo: DUI Task Force Reports Fewer Arrests
The DUI task-force’s 2014 campaign to catch impaired drivers resulted in 11,113 stops over the Cinco De Mayo weekend. This is a 47 percent increase from 2013, where law enforcement only made 7,559 stops. This year, law enforcement made 500 arrests on suspicion of driving under the influence. More than 1,800 police officers and deputies comprised the 2014 Cinco De Mayo task force.
Aggravated, misdemeanor and extreme DUI arrests all decreased this year. The blood-alcohol content average also decreased to .146 percent, just below the extreme DUI threshold.
