Can I Continue to Work for My Current Employer While I am Serving Jail Time?

Yes, in some cases.  Through a program called “work release,” a person serving a jail sentence may be allowed to get out of jail temporarily for work.  The work release program is typically available for those serving jail time for misdemeanor offenses.  Under this program, the Judge will set the days and times for the person’s release.  However, the person will not be released for more than 12 hours a day nor more than 6 days a week.  Further, generally a person serving jail time for a DUI will not be released for more than 5 days a week.  As compared to the “work furlough program,” the work release program does not require a fee for participation.

If you have been charged with a misdemeanor offense and are facing jail time, contact a Phoenix Arizona lawyer at the criminal defense law firm Oracle Law Group Office P.C. to obtain more information regarding the work release program.
