Arizona has some of the toughest DUI laws in the Nation

Arizona has become one of the toughest states on DUI Offenders. This year a new law took effect penalizing super-extreme DUI offenders, those whose BAC is .20 or higher. First time super-extreme DUI offenders face a minimum of one hundred and eighty (180) days in jail and fines totaling in the thousands. The State mandates ignition interlock devices for all DUI offenders, which prevents a car from starting if the operator has been drinking. Arizona has issued 19,000 of the devices since the inception of the program.
