Nikolai Khabibulin Receives Jail Sentence for February DUI
Russian-born National Hockey League goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin was sentenced to 30-days in jail last Friday by a City Court Judge. The sentencing results from a DUI Arrest in February, in which the Edmonton Oiler’s goal keeper registered a .164 BAC, twice the legal limit in Arizona. Upon receiving the decision Khabibulin’s lawyers immediately appealed the decision and it is believed that through the appeals process Khabibulin will serve no more than ten (10) days in jail. Since Khabibulin is not a repeat or dangerous offender his case for a less-stringent punishment is merited, he has also enrolled himself in the NHL’s Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program.

Actor Chris Klein has been charged with his 2nd DUI Offense
Actor Chris Klein has been officially charged with his Second DUI in the Los Angeles County Court System. Klein co-starred in the 1990’s blockbuster “American Pie” series and has had limited success in acting since then. Klein was arrested on June 16th when Police officers spotted his car weaving in and out of traffic in the San Fernando Valley area in California. Klein is facing two counts of misdemeanor DUI, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Prosecutor. Klein will be arraigned on July 9th, if convicted this will be his second DUI offense the first was in 2005.
Klein faces a minimum of three days in jail but could be sentenced to one year due to his previous DUI arrest. California’s DUI laws mandate these minimums: three to five years of probation, a fine and court fees that can range from $1800 to $2800. Penalties also include a two year loss of his California Drivers License, mandatory installation of an interlock device, an eighteen month DUI School, and ninety-six (96) hours of mandatory jail time.

We read about celebrities every day on the covers of magazines and watch them on the big screens. While they certainly lead a very privileged life, not even they can escape the repercussions of DUI laws.
Former “Hills” star Jason Wahler, most commonly known for his bad boy ways on the MTV reality show and in real life, is going for an all-time international party boy record. He was charged last week with two counts of DUI after his second alcohol-related arrest in a month.
According to the Orange County District Attorney, Wahler — whose blood alcohol level was allegedly .15% when he was busted on March 19 — faces six months in jail if convicted.
Just a week earlier, Wahler was arrested after a bar fight in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico — then mysteriously bailed out and traveled back across the border to start more trouble.
Hopefully he can tame his irresponsible ways and be smarter about alcohol consumption and getting behind the wheel.
Remember, driving while intoxicated is a serious offense no matter your socioeconomic state class in life.
